For People Ops & HR

Welcome gifts your new hires will keep on their desk

Custom engraved onboarding gifts — tumblers, cutting boards, plaques, and desk pieces — for the welcome kit your new hires actually keep out.

Why the first-day gift shapes the first year

The average onboarding kit is a swag-closet t-shirt, a plastic pen, and a laminated org chart. New hires notice. A gift with their name on it — engraved on a tumbler that lives on their desk, a cutting board that lives in their kitchen, a plaque that goes on the wall behind their monitor on video calls — tells the new employee they were expected, not processed. That single signal is what people write about on Glassdoor six months later.

Cool Beams produces every piece by hand in our Georgetown, Texas studio. We take inquiries directly from HR, ship most orders within 2–5 business days from design approval, and prioritize rush work when a start date shifts. Company logo work, bulk standing orders for high-volume hiring, remote-employee direct-to-home shipping, and quote-on-request pricing are all standard.

More to choose from

Built for the full employee lifecycle — not just day one

Onboarding gifts get the most attention, but the same relationship extends across the employee's tenure. We organize the catalog around that arc so a single HR contact can quote every touchpoint at once:

  • Day one — the welcome kit standard: a tumbler, coaster set, or pen-and-notebook engraved with the new hire's name and start date. The name reads first; the company logo sits subordinate, like a maker's mark. That's the Cool Beams difference from a printed promo mug.
  • Remote welcome — cutting boards, wine-glass pairs, and home-address-shipped pieces that reach a remote hire's front porch on day one. Distinct from the desk kit because it bridges work and home.
  • Executive and founder-tier — padfolios, decanter sets, and offset-acrylic welcome plaques for director-and-above hires whose onboarding deserves more than the standard box.
  • Milestones and anniversaries — promotion plaques, one-year and five-year anniversary tumblers, and internal-move keepsakes that keep HR's relationship with the employee going long past their first week.

We quote a full annual onboarding cadence and bulk-discount across orders. Standing orders for high-volume hiring — where a pre-engraved company logo waits for per-employee name additions — are one of our most-requested setups.

How it works

  1. 1. Tell us about the hire

Share the role, start date, budget per employee, and whether you're onboarding one person or a recurring cohort. Remote or in-office matters too — we ship direct-to-home when needed.

  2. 2. We quote in tiers

You'll get a tiered quote — standard welcome kit, premium, and executive — usually within one business day. No deposit at the quote stage.

  3. 3. Approve the proof

We send a digital proof of the engraving layout before anything goes on the machine. Logo placement, name spelling, and start date all get your sign-off first.

  4. 4. We produce and review

Every piece is engraved by hand in our Georgetown studio and reviewed before it ships. Standing-order clients get the same review on every batch.

  5. 5. Ship or pick up

UPS or FedEx nationwide, direct-to-home for remote hires, or local pickup in Georgetown, TX. Most orders ship in 2–5 business days from proof approval.

What we can personalize

  • New hire's name or initials
  • Start date
  • Role or title
  • Company logo (subordinate)
  • Team or department name
  • Brief mission statement or welcome message
  • Anniversary or promotion date
  • Home address (for remote welcome pieces)

If you have something specific in mind that's not listed, mention it in your inquiry — we can usually accommodate it.

Common questions

Can you handle a standing order for ongoing hires?
Yes — this is one of our most-requested HR setups. We pre-engrave the company logo on a batch of tumblers or coasters, hold them in the studio, and add each new hire's name and start date as you send them over. Turnaround per hire is typically 2–3 business days.
What's your rush turnaround for a last-minute start date?
Standard turnaround is 2–5 business days from proof approval. When a start date moves up, tell us in the inquiry and we'll flag your order for rush production — most rush jobs ship the next business day.
Do you ship directly to a remote employee's home?
Yes. Send us the hire's home address in the order and we ship UPS or FedEx direct-to-home with your branded packing. Great for remote welcome kits, wine-glass pairs, and cutting boards.
Can we see a proof before you engrave?
Every order gets a digital proof of the engraving layout before we cut anything. Logo placement, name spelling, and date formatting all get your approval first — no surprises.
How do you handle company logo files?
Send us a vector file (SVG, AI, or high-resolution PDF) and we'll size it for each piece. If you only have a PNG or JPG, we can usually re-draw it for a small one-time fee, and the redrawn file is yours to keep for future orders.
